The Bioinformatics Specialist will assist all laboratory researchers by providing effective data analysis, maintaining the existing pipelines, and helping interpret results.
Five positions (2.5-year positions with possibilities of extension) are available at the new Balearic Centre for Biodiversity of the University of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Centre for Biodiversity will be devoted to: 1) the generation, management and maintenance of reference natural history collections, 2) the implementation of thegenomic laboratory; and 3) the generation, maintenance and management of geophysical, environmental, genetic and genomic metadata. The data stored in this Centre provides detailed information about biodiversity on a regional scale and will make it accessible to the scientific,
political, administrative, industrial, social and educational communities.
The Genomics R&D Specialist will apply scientific domain-specific knowledge in second and third-generation sequencing technologies and specialized data processing techniques to design, develop and implement new sequencing strategies in Environmental Genomics. The role will work in partnership with scientists and lab technicians to support the generation of innovative solutions, within defined project
scopes and aligned to established frameworks, which support decision-making in research, development and sequencing activities.
